I’ve wanted to send this for a while now and after the practice
meet last Sunday, have been reflecting on this and thought now
the best time. Not many people know that we moved back to the
U.S. from Switzerland due to Vanessa’s health. She was
ultimately diagnosed by Stanford in Feb 2008 as having Juvenile
Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA) but had been mis-diagnosed in
Switzerland in the summer of 2007 and underwent several
unnecessary procedures, including surgery to her left elbow. We
moved home for U.S. healthcare as her physical therapy was all
in French and not sustainable. We moved him on July 1
st
2008 and she had less than 20% mobility in her left elbow. I
signed her up for girls basic one in August 2008 and was
delighted that Mackenzie spoke French. I was advised by doctors
that this was not a good idea but proceeded ahead. The weekly
gymnastics session was therapy for me as I could see the
progress she was making and more often than not would find
myself crying the entire lesson. The fact that two years later
she is able to perform at this level, particularly on bars, is
amazing. This is a testimonial to the sport that provides
confidence and instills determination and a never give up
mentality but also to Kelsey and her other coaches over the past
two years. If an opportunity presents itself to share this
testimonial...

"Our daughter Sydney, has
been a gymnast for 11 years at Byers Roseville. She started out
in the "Mommy & Me" class as a toddler and is now a level 8
competitive gymnast at 13 years old! Sydney considers her
fellow gymnast like sisters to her and her coaches are like a
second set of parents. She has learned so much besides
gymnastic skills. She has learned to be a very sympathetic and
encouraging young lady. She is disciplined and organized in her
school work and has maintained straight A's throughout the
years. Gymnastics has kept her focused and determined and
following the right path in life. With all the bad influences
out there in the world her dedication to this sport has kept her
making the right choices, and for that we are so thankful."
"We've been a customer of Byers Roseville for over
fourteen years. Each of our three daughters
started gymnastics at age three in the recreational
program. All three girls continued training and
conditioning and joined the Byers competitive team
program. Although my two older girls, now
teenagers, have moved on to other athletic endeavors,
they left with the best physical and mental foundation
from their years of gymnastics training at Byers
Roseville."

"I like the high expectations for learning conveyed
to the gymnasts by their instructors. I like that
my daughter has to earn her rewards. I feel that
not only is she learning to become a gymnast, but she is
gaining other important life skills like work ethic,
don't give up, time management, etc."
